![]() ![]() Had the lad been with the rest, surely my suffering would have ceased years ago. Personally, I have my doubts as to whether the original copy is still officially sold by the companies themselves, since the game was most likely released for MS-DOS, and even if it was Windows (still have yet to check to confirm the operating system itself), it may very well still be for Win16, meaning that in either case, the game itself wouldn't run on 64-bit Windows installations without another copy of a Win16-capable version of Windows running reliably within a virtualizor or emulator (such as, for example, DOSBox), which would largely defeat the purpose of its original packaging anyway.īut, all in all, it depends on what the companies themselves are currently doing with the game.Curse the quick thinking of the Arch Authority, snatching the child away before his doom was sealed. It all depends really on the original copy's distribution status as according to the actual companies involved in its development and release. So really, I'm not sure what to say about this. ![]() Also, even if it was still "officially sold" by the company itself, another issue would be whether the original copy is the one being sold, or a remake (the Monkey Island series saw about two remakes if I remember correctly, so I wouldn't be surprised if other games are remade as mrpijey seems to have pointed out), since remakes (again, as mrpijey appears to have pointed out) are NOT the same as the original games. No question, there is a huge difference between whether a game (let's use the original Monkey Island series as an example in this case) is sold on whatever service (let's say it was Steam), and whether it is still officially sold by the original company. Well, it all depends, really, on whether the copy of the game itself on GoG is an original copy or not, and whether the original company in this case still officially sells it. ![]()
